The Daughters of the Sun is a community girls choir based in Sacramento that provides youth with musical training and performance opportunities. Aimed at fostering confidence, teamwork, literacy, and a sense of belonging, the choir helps strengthen community bonds, enhances musical skills, and supports personal growth through engaging performance experiences. This initiative is a vital part of the community, providing a positive and enriching environment for young girls and contributing to the overall well-being of the society
Our vision
Our vision is to empower young girls through music, nurturing their talents, and fostering a supportive community that encourages personal and academic growth. By providing a platform for these young girls to express themselves and develop their skills, we aim to disrupt cycles of violence and promote positive social change within the community. Music and choir lessons are often inaccessible to the communities we serve due to financial constraints and a lack of local resources. Many of our students come from underserved communities where opportunities for high-quality musical training and performance are limited.
